Overview of Driving Directions: There are several ways to go from the Orlando Airport (MCO) to Disney Haven. We show two of them but focus on the route that is faster and simpler. The final part of both routes is the same -- get onto Route 192 westbound and make a turnoff that takes you to Disney Haven. The name of Route 192 is "Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway", but it is not a true highway because it has MANY commercial establishments including stores, restaurants, and motels as well as traffic signals.

The "northern route" is Route 528, more commonly known as the Bee Line Expressway. To take this road, use the north exit from the airport and go west on Route 528. At the end of Route 528, exit onto Route I-4 (west or south -- its actual direction is southwest). We'll talk about getting onto (or trying to get onto) Route 192 later.

The "southern route" is Route 417, which is the Central Florida Greeneway. To take this toll road, use the south exit from the airport, which takes you to Route 417. Go west on Route 417. Note that the signs may say "south" instead of "west" because Route 417 tends to go south as well as west. Route 417, like Route 528, terminates at Route 4. However, you must exit from Route 417 BEFORE you get to Route 4. We'll talk about getting onto Route 192 later.

This map shows the two routes. Note that other roads, some of which are major highways, are not shown here.

Both Routes (528 and 417) are toll roads, but the Route 417 tolls total $2.50 (as of May 2007), whereas the Route 528 tolls are about half that amount. These figures pertain to the portion of these roads that runs from the airport to where you exit from them. Of course, the tolls may change, and our figures may not be precise, but were're talking about small amounts of money in any case.

More Directions for the Northern Route: Prior to 2007, there was a convenient exit on Route I-4 (Exit 64B) that put you on Route 192 westbound. However, due to construction, there is no such exit now. Instead, you take Exit 64 and follow a detour to Route 192 west. This detour, however, is not straightforward, and it is possible to miss the turnoff onto Route 192. Hopefully, there will eventually be a direct exit from Route 4 to Route 192, as before.

Directions for the Southern Route: Take the South Access Road from the airport. It soon merges into Boggy Creek Road, and you continue southward on Boggy Creek Road. Take the entry ramp onto Route 417 westbound. Follow Route 417 to Exit 2.

Note: The toll booth at Exit 2 is usually unmanned, so exact change (2 quarters) is required.

At the end of the Exit 2 off-ramp, turn right onto Celebration Avenue and follow it a short distance to Route 192. Turn left onto Route 192 westbound. You will soon pass under the Route 4 overpass and, a short while later, under the World Drive overpass (which takes you to Walt Disney World).

Before we describe the remainder of the route, here is an overview map that shows the location of Emerald Island in relation to Route 417.

Emerald Island is in Kissimmee, more or less to the southwest of Orlando. This map is of course simplified for clarity.

Route 192 to Disney Haven: Stay on Route 192 until you get to Formosa Gardens Blvd. Turn left onto Formosa Gardens Blvd. Turn right (west) onto Funie Steed Rd. and drive approximately 1 mile, until you see the entrance to Emerald Island on your left. To see the entrance, click here. The next map shows this, and the last map shows the location of Disney Haven within Emerald Island.

This map shows the location of Emerald Island in relation to Route 192. When heading west on 192, you make a left turn onto Formosa Gardens Blvd. A Walgreen's pharmacy and a Red Lobster restaurant are at that intersection.

For the sake of clarity, some of the streets in Emerald Island are not shown.

Disney Haven villa is approximately .8 miles from the gate house. You can drive to it by taking Emerald Island Blvd from the circle (which you encounter immediately after passing through the gate) or by taking Secret Key Rd to Emerald Island Blvd and then turning right onto Emerald Island Blvd.
