Discount Park Tickets - Buyer be Aware

When you arrive in Florida, there will be many opportunities for you to purchase "discount tickets" to the major attractions such as Walt World Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World. As you drive around, you will see an abundance of signs advertising offers such as "Free Tickets", "Two Disney Tickets For $20.00" or even offers of "$100.00 in cash". These offers are true to their word, but often come with some serious strings attached - such as having to sit through at least a two-hour sales pitch to try to sell you a villa or timeshare in Kissimmee. Although listening to these presentations may save you money on your vacation, these outlets are acting as agents for the resorts and are not necessarily controlled by the resorts. You may therefore find that you are conducting business with an independent entrepreneur who may not necessarily adhere to the code of conduct you expect.

Even worse, some of these "discount outlets" offering cheap tickets will actually try to pass off used tickets with just a couple days left on them as legitimate new tickets. These are usually tickets that previous guests have returned for a cash-back return. If there is a lesson here, it is to be aware of possible unexpected and unwanted caveats on promising offers.

Choosing and Purchasing Theme Park Tickets

Of the various types of Walt Disney World Tickets, the most popular types are probably 4-day, 5-day, 6-day, 7-day "Park Hopper Passes", which let you go to any of the Disney theme parks such as Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, etc. Unlike the "Orlando Flex Tickets", which are for the Universal parks (such as Universal Studios, Sea World, and Bush Gardens Tampa Bay), the Disney Park Hopper tickets never expire, as long as World Disney World exists. This means that if you don't use all the days on a ticket, you can use the remaining portions at any time in the future.

Another benefit of the "Hopper" passes is that you don't have to wait in lines at ticket windows, which at times, can be as long as the lines at the attractions. These tickets offer a slight savings over the 1-day admissions, although they are not the least expensive Disney tickets. However, when you consider that the cost of Disney tickets will probably increase every year, a Park Hopper pass is likely to be the least expensive option.

There are many ways to purchase these tickets. The Disney Stores (often located in shopping malls) sell tickets to all Disney theme parks. Or, if you are a member of a travel service such as AAA, you can probably purchase tickets through these outlets at a small discount.

There are also many websites that offer discount theme park tickets. However, because we have not used them ourselves, we cannot speak to which ones offer the best discounts (with no unexpected conditions). You can also purchase tickets through our management company. Check with us for details.

Finally, upon your arrival in Florida, you can check out the Official Visitor Center located at 8723 International Drive, Orlando, FL 32819. There you can purchase tickets to any of the Florida theme parks. The offices are open 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The number if calling from the United States is 407-363-5872.
