  2. Personal check or bank check

What You Pay (the Costs)

The total cost of your stay comprises the following:

  1. Reservation Deposit (15% of total rental cost, including tax and - if applicable - pool heat): This is paid when you initially reserve the villa for a particular block of time. It makes the villa unavailable to others during that block of time.
  2. Balance: The total rental cost (including tax) minus the 15% reservation deposit
  3. Refundable Security Deposit ($250): paid with (and in addition to) the Balance

Any of these costs can be paid by any of the three methods listed with one exception:

The Security Deposit cannot be paid via PayPal because it is usually fully refunded and should therefore go directly to us because we can return all of it, whereas a third party would retain part of it as a handling fee. So, if you pay the Security Deposit with a ...

Note: If there is any reason why the entire Security Deposit can't be refunded, we will notify you with an explanation of any charges. [To top]

When You Pay (the Timing)

Cancelling (Oops!)

If you need to cancel your reservation, the cancellation date is the date on which we receive your written "cancel-my-reservation" notice. If you cancel, then all, some, or none of what you have paid will be refunded, depending upon how close the cancellation date is to the arrival date. (However, the Security Deposit will be refunded in full regardless of when you may cancel.) This table gives the specifics:

Effects of Cancelling at Various Times
Number of Days Prior
to Your Arrival Date
How Much is Refunded
Reservation
Deposit
Balance
181 or more 100% 100%
57 to 180 0 100%
29 to 56 (8 weeks) 0 50%
28 (4 weeks) or less 0 0

Final comment: These cancellation penalties are typical for pre-booked vacation arrangements, and the possibility - however small - that it may be necessary to cancel a vacation trip may make it advisable to procure trip insurance, which would cover any cancellation penalties. [To top]
